Steve is an approved mediator in Maryland. He is on several District and Circuit Court mediator rosters to include Talbot, Queen Anne's, Caroline, Dorchester, Wicomico, and Somerset Counties. For the Maryland District Court system Steve is an approved in the pretrial and day of trial programs. His practice serves the Western and Eastern Shores of Maryland to include Annapolis, Easton, Cambridge, Kent Island, Salisbury, Chestertown, and Denton. Steve has completed training in basic, child access, financial and martial property mediation. He is a member of the Maryland Program for Mediator Excellence and The Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution. He recently served as a judge for The American Bar Association Negotiation Regional Competition sponsored by the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Steve has recently spoken about mediation at the Maryland Bar Association Annual Meeting.
Steve has been actively mediating and consulting in the area of negotiation, change management, leadership development, and business acumen for over 40 years. Steve has served as an executive coach and consultant in change management. Clients have included Boeing, British Petroleum, Glaxo-Welcome, Corning, IRS, and United Technologies to name a few. Over the years his company has trained over 500,000 employees and 100,000 managers in the skills required to ensure successful leadership, conflict resolution, and change management worldwide. He has consulted with multinational companies in China, Taiwan, Japan, and throughout Europe. He has traveled extensively, recently visiting Tibet.
Steve has B.A. from Gettysburg College, M.A. and Ph.D. in Counseling from the University of Maryland, College Park, and M.B.A. from George Washington University.
For many years Steve was Dean and Vice Chancellor of University of Maryland University College (now called Global Campus) where he acted as chief academic officer for undergraduate and graduate programs and chief administrative officer for all credit and non-credit programs worldwide. He has taught at George Washington University School of Business, George Mason University, Trinity College, University of Connecticut Business School, and the University of Maryland. Steve is a private pilot, fly fishing enthusiast and lives with his wife in an historic home in Easton, MD. They have three grown daughters, seven grandchildren, and a yellow lab.
